Finial Desination

We stopped in San Antonio so Tiana could visit the Alamo and the river walk ride. We arrived in Zapata about 5 pm on Thursday the 29th of October. We are settled in at the new park (Pepe's) we have a nice spot facing east so the passinger side is not facing the street. We have a tree at the back of the coach which will help with the heat control. It has been in the eighty's and ninety's. We get better recepition with our new WiFi device for internet service. I think our location also makes a difference. Tiana loves the "Steak House" chicken fried steak as I knew she would; she has ordered it both times we have been there for dinner. She also was able to get new movies to watch, seven of them for only $30.00.

I 35 South

We have moved on at last. Left Des Moines October 21, 2009. Measurable snow fell in Des Moines a week before we could leave. It was a shock to my system. Have not been in snow in two years and did not want to experience it again. I am past it now that I have experienced hot and muggie in Waco, Texas October 25, 2009.

The fall colors are beautiful once again. We have stopped in Waco for a few days. Had to do laundry and want to see some of the sites. Tiana, took the pictures on the blog. She likes to take them as we are driving. She gets some pretty good ones.

from the ocean to the mountains

We left Sacramento on Wednesday June 10. Arrived in Florence, Oregon on Friday the 12th. We had a great time with Jon and Sandy. We did the beaches and the mountains, Tiana had a great time walking the beaches with Aunt Sandy looking for sand dollars.

We left Florence on Friday the 26th, we took the coast highway (101) in to Newport, we stopped in Newport at the Ocean Aquarium. It was fabulous! Tiana touched a shark. She even touched a star fish!

We left Newport and went east to Interstate 5, and headed north. We stayed at Wal Mart Friday night. We continued north in to Washington saw some beautiful areas. We stopped just north of Tacoma, Washington at a Wal Mart but could not stay there because of a city ordnance, we went to Dash Point State Park and they were full so ended up in a Park & Ride lot about 10 pm.
We left the Park & Ride lot and continued north in to down town Seattle, Washington where we connected with Interstate 90 east. We are spending tonight (Sunday) at a Wal Mart in Yakima, Washington. We will be in Montana tomorrow.

We have been in Sacramento for a week now. Chell and the kids are great. We have spent as much time with them as their work and school allow. Isaiah came over and washed the roof of the motor home for Grandpa. He really likes doing stuff like that. Grandpa is taking Mel for his driving test tomorrow. The first week we were here it was really hot. This week it is cooler and much more pleasant. We are staying in a Mobile home and RV park. It is a lot closer to Chell's than the park we have stayed at the last couple of years while here.

A field of wild flowers. That's what I mean by a beautiful day, except our fields were cactus in the desert. Miles and Miles of desert and mountains and cactus. Many shapes and sizes and kinds, totally awesome. We are parked for the night, but wait, not at Wal Mart! We are in a road side rest area on interstate 40 less than 35 miles from Barstow, California. We could be in Sacramento tomorrow if we don't find a something fabulous to stop and see.

Meet Spencer our newest great grandson! He was born March 31st, weighing in at over eight pounds. He is Mark & Connie's second grandson. Our next great grandbaby will arrive in November, and will be Chell's first grand child. Grandma at 38 not bad!

Today was not as windy as yesterdays gail's, so we moved on from Marana, Arizona, just out side Tuson and moved on west to Buckeye, Arizona. Yes, from one Wal Mart to another. We are about 100 miles or so from the California border. We are traveling on interstate 10 and will go north on highway 95 just over the California border, this will take us to interstate 40. We will stay on 40 into Bakersfield then catch 99 into Sacramento.

Gig & Toots are sitting on the dash in the windshield keeping an eye on things. They are good little watch dogs and travelers.
We are in Las Cruses, New Mexico, still. The wind is suppose to dye down by tomorrow, so we will continue on the road. Hope to get pretty well into Arizona. We had a very nice Easter Sunday. It is amazing how many people come to Wal Mart on a Holiday!

Spring in the Desert, at Langtry, Texas. This cactus is part of a garden which is part of the Judge Roy Bean compound. It is a beautiful place and if you ever get a chance to go there take it.
We are currently at a Wal Mart in SW Los Cursus, New Mexico. As we were traveling on highway 90 in Texas we had our historic tire problem. This year it was a threefer. Shreaded trailer tire, broken shade and broken steps. Since that was three in a row that should take care of our bad luck for this trip around. We will always think so any way.

On the road again, headed west! Our winter in Zapata, Texas was great! No snow (oho a four letter word) not even rain. Some cool, mostly warm and a few days of HOT, weather. We went into Mexico once, got every thing we went after and then some. Now it's spring in Texas and the Yuccas and Cactus are in bloom. The pic is a Yucca (tall white bloom) the kind of blue silver are sage bush. They have tiny lavender blue flowers.
We are parked over night in, what else, but a Wal Mart in Del Rio, Texas home of the five river lake. If we get moving in decent time in the morning we will explore and stay over night in Big Bend National Park and be in New Mexico by Friday evening. Although we may stop in Alpine, Texas, just have to wait and see.
